SLAP is proud to premiere Holland Izz’s new visual for “Insecurities,” the first of many videos we plan to host on our YouTube channel.
Holland is known for his hyped-up, light-hearted tracks, but here he taps into the deep recesses of his mind with a drowsy delivery that matches the production by Cardo. Holland’s risks usually involve spazzed-out energy and the payoff is almost always positive; however, here the risk is less about energy and more about the lyrical content. He’s breaking down paranoia and self-doubt, the kind that comes with grinding your way through a career that leaves one eternally vulnerable. If you’ve seen Holland perform, you know he brings his all and this video is no exception; over the thick, sparkling soundscape, Izz hops around the forest on a cloudy day that supplies perfect weather for the song’s emotional temperature.
Everything here serves the atmospheric haze–from the video by Reaper Films, to the production, to the flow–and creates a mood that feels like new territory for this young artist. It’s hypnotic, intoxicating, and promising.
